What is the Heart of the City Program?

We are recruiting volunteers of musical and non-musical background!

Piano need not be your principal instrument.
See volunteering section for more details...

The mission of the Heart of the City piano program (HCPP) is simple: make music accessible to every child. The study of music is costly and often inaccessible to youth who are economically disadvantaged. We strive to provide the opportunity to discover music through piano lessons to these children, by providing them with piano lessons, given at their school by volunteers. Presently, the Ottawa branch of the program includes 6 schools from the public and catholic English school boards.

HCPP not only teaches the students an instrument, it teaches them a means of self-expression, communication and instils self-confidence.

THIS PROGRAM IS 100% VOLUNTEER BASED!

We need your help to succeed.

2009-2010 Objectives

  • Increase student participation in RCM examinations
  • Accept used pianos in any condition
